homemade peppermint sugar scrub

This refreshing sugar scrub is a wonderful way to cleanse, deodorise, refresh, soften and soothe tired or aching feet. This recipe is very easy to make, with only a few simple ingredients, and makes wonderful gifts, especially at Christmas!
Ingredients:*
256 g white granulated sugar
60ml - 80ml almond oil
a few drops of peppermint essential oil
a few drops of raspberry juice OR a few drops of red food colouring (optional)
How to make homemade peppermint sugar scrub:
(1) Measure out the sugar into a large bowl.
(2) Slowly add the almond oil, and mix well, until it reaches a soft consistency that isn't too oily.
(3) Add the peppermint essential oil and mix very well. (Top Tip: Peppermint essential oil is one of the most powerful scents, so only a few drops are needed. Too much will be overpowering. Remember, you can always add more, but if you add too much, you can't take it out again.)
OPTIONAL: If you are giving the sugar scrub as a gift, you may wish to colour the mixture in a 'candy cane' effect of pink and white. This is very pretty and well worth the little extra effort. If so, continue as follows: (for photos, see www.theidearoom.net )
(4) Once blended, divide the mixture into two separate bowls.
(5) Add a few drops of raspberry juice or red food colouring to the contents of one bowl, and mix well.
(6) Using a kitchen funnel, pour the sugar scrub mixture into clean, dry bottles or jars. (If using a coloured mixture, alternate by pouring the mixture from the two separate bowls, (ie: first the white mixture, then the pink mixture, tapping the mixture flat between each addition) until the bottle/jar is filled. Cap tightly, and label and date.
